Going to visit Pinacotheca, Friday, 13rd afternoon.
This is the oldest wood sculpture in Europe. Dated 1225 by radiocarbon, It has been made from a single rose tree trunk.
Our proud guide describing us one of the masterpieces of the Pinacotheca: Madonna of Humbless, painted in 1366 by Allegretto Nuzi, depicting the Lady who is breast feeding the Child, sitting in a bare pillow instead of a throne and giving us a warm and deep sense of intimacy.
Part of the frescoes reassembled (children playing), coming from the vault of the old cathedral, and representing the life of St. John the Evangelist. They were painted by Lorenzo and Jacopo Salimbeni.
